At the moment, none of our locations are participating in the Buy Back program. Please keep a look out on @theopenbook_simi ‘s Instagram page for any future updates, as they will be the only location who takes part in this program.
We do not take donations of any kind at our locations. Also, because of that, please do not leave boxes of books outside of any of our locations, as that is considered “dumping”, and could get our stores into trouble with our landlords.
If you have a large collection you are looking to donate call our representative from American Book Drive at (805) 468-5249 where 35% of procedes will be donated to a local charity.
All sales are final at all locations; we do not accept returns or exchanges.
Open Book Tote Bag: 20% Discount with use of the Open Book Tote Bag! ($20+tax one time fee, and every time you show it at checkout, you get the discount*)
BOGO Deals: Buy one, Get One 50% off select sections certain days of the week, at select stores. Section varies per store.
Open Book Stamp Card: Get a stamp for every $10 you spend, once the stamp card is full, you recieve $10 off a $15+ purchase. Stamp cards do not expire. Can redeem one stamp card per visit.
***Some exclusions apply (i.e. Hot New Titles, glass case items, etc.)

To set up an event at our store please contact whichever location you are interested in through their Instagram or contact form.
No, our system is not set up for consignment, so we are not able to order and place books in our stores for revenue sharing. But if you are an author, please check out our individual stores for potential author signings, where you can sell directly to our customers and keep 100% of the proceeds.
We are a used bookstore with a small selection of quantity books in new condition. However, we frequently get books published within the last five years that are highlighted on our Hot Sellers shelf in store and posted on our Instagram story.
We do not have a digital inventory, however we are happy to point you in the direction of where you could find it in store.

That is not a service that we offer.
None of our locations are set up to donate for fundraisers, but we do help local schools and organizations with fundraising through our Literacy Day program. Through this partnership, a day is chosen where anyone associated with the organization can shop, mention the event at checkout, and 20% of the proceeds go back to the organization.
